City Meet Information!
July 13th
Here you can find all information regarding City Meet.
- You can RSVP here. RSVP will close Thursday, July 16 at 12 Noon.
- Two Dual Meet Participations are necessary to qualify. The Mock Meet does not count.
- All swimmers are strongly encouraged to attend this meet!
- Coaches will select events to maximize points. There is no benefit to spreading out swimmers at this meet, so swimmers will be placed in their strongest events. There will be time to confirm your swimmer’s events and request changes.
- Timelines are copied from last year, and are subject to change.
- 10 & Under Prelims, Thursday July 23: Warm Ups between 1:00-2:30pm, Events 3:00-7:30pm
- 11 & Over Prelims, Friday July 24: Warm Ups between 7:00-8:30am, Events 9:00am-2:45pm
- Finals, Saturday July 25: Warm Ups between 9:00-10:15am, Events 10:30am-5:15pm
- Exact Warm up times will be announced later, these are just ranges. Warm Ups are only 10-20 minutes long, so please arrive on time.
- No practice during City Meet: July 23 and July 24
- Prelims take place on Thursday and Friday. The top 8 times in each event will qualify for A Finals, and the next top 8 places (9-16) will qualify for Consolation Finals. The next top 2 places (17 and 18) will be alternates for Finals. If you finish top 18 of any event, individual or relay you are expected to attend Finals on Saturday.
- Swimmers may still swim in City Meet even if they are unavailable on Saturday. Please let either Scott or Daniel know in advance if you are not attending Finals so your swimmer may be removed from Finals if they qualify.
- The meet is located at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on the University of Tennessee Campus. (2200 Andy Holt Ave, Knoxville TN)
- There is paid parking for $15 per day. Can be purchased in advance here, from our homepage. Pre-ordering ends at the same time as the RSVP: Thursday, July 16 at 12 Noon. Some passes will be available at the garage, for $25.
- Purchase your City Meet shirts here. Shirts can be pre-ordered. And for the first time, they should be available for purchase at the meet - while supplies last!
- Absolutely no drop offs allowed in front of the building. There is too much traffic and you will be ticketed.
- All parents of swimmers at City Meet must be willing to work at the meet. Refusal to work will cause GKAISA to fine the team and deduct points; furthermore, your family will not be allowed to attend SAC’s end of season banquet.
- Job requirements will be posted before the meet. All timers must report to the timer’s meeting before the meet begins, even the Session 2 Timers.
- Between races, swimmers and family are expected to stay at the team tent, as seating is limited inside the aquatic center. Team tent location should be the same as years past, but a map has not been published yet.
- Swimmers are ultimately responsible for getting themselves to the Clerk of Course area, directly behind Allan Jones. You can follow @GKAISAOFFICIAL on X/Twitter for up to date on the events and meet information.
- During Prelims, the girls will swim in the left pool, and the boys will swim in the right pool; from the perspective of the spectators. For Finals, all events will be in the right pool, and the left pool will be open for warm ups. The diving well will be open for warm ups only on Friday.
- Digital heats sheets will not be available for Prelims. Heat sheets can be purchased at the box office. Although it can be helpful, swimmers also do not need to know their heat and lane; they will get lined up in their heats and lanes in the Clerk of Course tents. A swimmer only needs to know their event and event number.
- If anyone is interested in auditioning to perform the National Anthem, they can reach out to Brad Salsbury at (865)603-8435 or [email protected]. Vocalists, instrumentalists, and ensembles are welcome to apply.
- Details can be found on GKAISA's website.
- Things to bring to City Meet
- Normal swim meet equipment: team suit, team cap, multiple goggles and towels.
- Folding chairs.
- Books, games, or other entertainment. There is a lot of downtime between events. Athletes should be relaxing while they wait to compete.
- Healthy snacks and cold drinks. Athletes should drink water or a sports drink (Gatorade) with water.
- Money for heat sheets and food.
- Sharpie. All 10 & Under swimmers must have their Last Name, Age, and Team written on the back of their shoulder. This helps the Clerk of Course workers identify swimmers and line them up correctly.
- NO pop-up tents are allowed.
- SAC’s theme this year is Mafia! Please do not overdress and end up melting during the competition.
Please email us if you have any questions!
