What does my swimmer need for practice?
Girls should wear a one-piece swimsuit to practice. Jammers or briefs are recommended for boys. Trunks and a swim shirt are okay beginners. All swimmers should have goggles, short fins, a towel, a water bottle and sunscreen. Swim caps are encouraged, but not required.
Can I stay at the pool during practice?
Yes, but we ask that you please let the coaches do their jobs and let your swimmers learn. Non-swimming siblings are welcome to stay, as well, but we ask you to supervise them. The splash pool and slides will not be available during practice.
Does my child have to attend every practice to be eligible to swim in a meet?
No. However, practice makes perfect, so the more practices your swimmer attends, the better he/she will be prepared for meets. Also, attending daily practices allows coaches to know each swimmer's abilities for optimal placement in a meet.

How do I RSVP for a meet?
Please RSVP for a meet on the team website https://sevieraquatic.swimtopia.com/swim_meets as soon as you know whether your swimmer will be attending. Here are the directions:
Swimmer Event Sign-up
Click on the green Swim Sign-up link to sign-up your swimmers for meet events; otherwise you can see a list of the events by clicking on the red View Swim Sign-ups link.
You may see a volunteer job confirmation window with a link to go back and sign-up for job shifts.
Underneath you will see a list of athletes associated with your account. Click Edit to add or change their attendance and relay declarations, or to add, change or delete events for your swimmers (if your coach allows event selection).
Select an attendance option from the drop-down menu next to each swimmer's name. If your coach allows event selection, a list of events will appear if you selected Attending. Check which events you would like to enter for each swimmer, up to the limit indicated on the top right.
How do I find out what my swimmer is swimming at the meet?
When you arrive at the swim meet, there will be heat sheets available for parents. This will show your swimmers events, heats and lanes.
What is the birthday cut-off for the different age groups?
The age groups are: 8 and under, 9-10 yrs, 11-12 yrs, 13-14 yrs, and 15-18 yrs. Per GKAISA rules, swimmers must compete in their legitimate age group (age as of midnight, May 31) in all events. One exception is that coaches may opt to "move up" one swimmer one age group to compete in a relay event.
Does my child have to swim in every meet?
No. However, meets
are the fun part of summer swim team, so we hope every swimmer will want to
participate. Swimmers will be asked to RSVP for each meet. Please be sure to
reply EACH TIME, even if you cannot attend a meet, so our coaches can build
relays and place swimmers in the appropriate events. Also, please note

What should swimmers bring to a swim meet?
Swim goggles (an extra pair is a good idea too)

What will my child swim during a swim meet?
Each swimmer has the opportunity to swim in four events during a swim meet. Typically, each swimmer will swim in two individual events (backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle or individual medley) and two relay events (medley relay and freestyle relay). Coaches will consider each swimmer's abilities and preferences when building the meet entries, but will place each swimmer where he/she can best help the team.
What do I do if my swimmer gets sick during a meet?
Please notify a coach that your child is sick and will not be able to finish the meet. Please do not leave the meet without letting a coach know so he/she can rearrange relays for the remaining swimmers. If you are volunteering at the time, please find another parent to replace you.
How do I find out how fast my swimmer swam during his/her races?
Times for each race will be printed on ribbons and made available for each swimmer following each meet. Results will also be available on the website. You can log into your account and check your swimmer's times.
How does my child get his/her ribbons from the meet?
SAC has a plastic ribbon box that is placed on a table around the pool deck during practices between meets. Each family has a folder in the box in which the ribbons are placed. While we do our best to print ribbons and make them available the day after each meet, we appreciate your patience and understanding until the ribbons can be made available.

How do I sign up to volunteer at a meet?
Swim meets are completely volunteer driven. Without our volunteers, a meet simply won't happen. For that reason, SAC asks each family to volunteer (one person per family) for one half of each meet when they have at least one swimmer participating in the meet. Volunteer sign-ups are completed on the team website. If you don't sign up online, you will be assigned a position.
Volunteer Job Sign-up
Click on the green Job Sign-up link to register to work a specific meet or event job; otherwise you can see a list of the jobs filled by clicking on the red View Sign-ups link.
Your assigned or previously selected jobs will appear for that meet. You can edit these selections by clicking the Sign-up for jobs link.
Hints: Roll your mouse over the "i" next to each job name to view a description of that job. Roll your mouse over the numbers in the Filled column to see who has already signed up for that job.
A list of all meet jobs available for sign-up will be displayed with shift times, slots filled and points (if applicable).
Make your changes by selecting or deselecting the checkbox next to each job, and click the Save Assignments button.
